Vertuoso Predicts Unprecedented Growth Opportunities

For Vertical Storytelling in Mobile Entertainment

Founded by branding/marketing executives Curt Doty and Greg Babiuk in 2017, and located in Los Angeles, New York, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, Vertuoso responds to the mobile audience with a robust viewing experience verticalized for maximum impact. Vertuoso produces marketing, promotion and original content repurposed or shot vertically, with graphic and production techniques exclusively designed for mobile viewing.

To date, the company has produced content for Viacom, MTV, BET, and Nickelodeon, and continues to work with producers, writers and showrunners to develop vertical series for all of the emerging vertical channels.

Having verticalized over 10 popular shows across Snapchat and IGTV since 2017, Vertuoso continues to lead the way in vertical storytelling. The company works with brands, agencies, studios, networks, and media companies to collaborate on creating and optimizing their video campaigns - promotional campaigns for movies and TV shows, and advertising campaigns for brands and services - by taking advantage of the latest consumer behaviors in their consumption of social video. The company also creates original vertical mobile content for museums, art galleries, theme parks and themed visitor destinations.

In its role as a production entity, Vertuoso sources the best DP’s and crews from across the country to accept this new challenge of shooting and framing for landscape and portrait. Using Design to drive a story graphically is becoming increasingly more critical to the industry, and has become tantamount to enticing the public’s behavior, since marketers can no longer rely on traditional paradigms of audio, music, and dialogue to propel a story. With the increased use of infographics and explainer videos, Design plays a major role in retaining attention.

His 10 years in the movie marketing business included a creative executive role at Universal Pictures where he produced many home entertainment integrated marketing campaigns for new releases with great reviews and industry awards.  His migration into PR and content marketing led him to Weber Shandwick and building a creative and content group to service their network of offices and accounts. Brand clients included GM, Carl’s Jr., Bausch + Lomb, Pond’s, Covered California, Degree, GoGo, Motorola, Genentech, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, USPS, Ubisoft, Abbott and Motorola.

Mike Esola is the co-founder and CEO of Ficto, a mobile-first streaming service launching later this year.  Ficto optimizes mobile entertainment as it empowers creators, engages global audiences and revolutionizes the way in which we watch immersive content throughout the day. It connects professional creators with diverse communities in order to elevate, inspire and rethink the next generation of storytelling.

Ficto’s mission is to deliver Fast,Interactive Content That’s Omnipresent. A public beta of the app will be available for download on iOS and Android next month and will offer shows produced for mobile.  Episodes range anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. Some shows offer up to 3 unique episodes daily in a release schedule while others offer live-stream, celebrity events weekly. Popular mobile functionalities such as interactive narratives (i.e. Bandersnatch) and geo-tracking (i.e. Pokémon Go) are combined with premium series that Ficto is financing and licensing from the ground up. Ficto is also revolutionizing the way creators are being paid; it is a first-mover in transparent, verifiable compensation that is tied to content performance.  Ficto provides each creator with a dashboard where he or she can see real time metrics and also revenue share payments as they post to their bank account every month.

Before founding Ficto, Mike was an accomplished talent agent at WME Entertainment and United Talent Agency. He closed over $250 million in gross revenue deals for his clients which included film sales, television packages and talent bookings.

Mike has a deep understanding of technology’s impact on media and entertainment. As a leader in the theatrical film industry, it afforded him a unique perspective into rapidly changing trends by viewers and content creators.  Consumer preferences in mobile, engagement aspects in content and performance-tied compensation for artists were collectively being ignored by new streaming companies.   Mike saw the urgent need for media’s integration into mobile applications which helped drive Ficto from concept to company through industry support, proven technology and market traction.

Mike holds two degrees:
