Los Angeles, CA, April 17, 2018 – Newly formed Vertuoso is signing Carey Lundin, a member of the Producers Guild of America, a multi award-winning director, writer and producer specializing in political campaigns, comedic digital series and documentaries, to their growing roster of content creators.
Lundin’s digital series, Citizen Kate, The Outsiders’ View of Inside Politics, 2008 (90 episodes, distributed by FiOS, and YouTube Partner as an official partner channel) followed Barack Obama from his launch through his inauguration. Working with producer John Heinsen, (another Vertuoso Producer), the series attracted hundreds of thousands of followers and hit a high water mark when her sweet yet idiotic “butter bust of Obama” sculpted by the beloved Butter Cow Lady of Iowa, made the international news and helped him secure the vote in the crucial Iowa caucus.
In 2016 Lundin rebooted Citizen Kate to cover Trump’s early campaign in Iowa, Clinton and Bernie Sanders. That series featured two Second City improvisers who wore cat ears to symbolize female power (a year before the Women’s Rally in DC) and used Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook to drive youth voter turnout initiatives.
Lundin developed her political savvy over a decade as Creative Director of Adelstein/Liston (A/L Media), a Chicago political media firm, working with federal, state and judicial races, public health campaigns (organ donation, EPA, ride-sharing) and corporate clients such as NEC, FMC and Allstate. Currently, Lundin is developing a highly creative get out the vote (GOTV) campaign called “Flip it Blue.”
Lundin’s award winning film, “Jens Jensen The Living Green” tells the story of an early landscape architect turned eco-justice warrior. The film aired on PBS nationally and made her a public speaker on how you can turn your art into activism.
Curt Doty, CEO and Co-Founder, has long specialized in integrated marketing, multi-channel storytelling, branding, identity, and user experience, states, “We are thrilled to have Carey join our team. Her political campaign background will help us connect with the newly energized Millennial base as we are facing the upcoming campaign season. Her prolific background in creating digital series is a perfect fit.”
Greg Babiuk, COO and Co-Founder, is an award-winning creative development and media production executive with over 20 years of experience across all media and comments, “Carey brings all the credibility to our space and offering. The right skills, the right platforms and the right background. We are excited at the possibilities.”
Lundin recently directed and co-wrote The WORST Travel Show, a five-episode travel series that satirized twee vloggers for the newly launched Facebook Watch and WatchMojo.
Lundin adds,“Political engagement has never been higher in anyone’s memory in this nation, that’s why it’s very exciting for me as a writer/director/producer to be able to connect with the mobile audience in such an impactful way. Vertuoso can leverage the right strategy for the right demo to connect the issues audiences care about, with brands that want to be part of the national conversation.”
Founded by media executives Curt Doty and Greg Babiuk in 2017, and located in Los Angeles, New York and Santa Fe, New Mexico, Vertuoso works with brands, agencies, studios, networks, and media companies to collaborate on enhancing and optimizing video campaigns to take advantage of the newest behaviors in the consumption of social video.
Vertuoso is one of the first creative and production agencies to focus on vertical storytelling. With a collection of content creators across the country, Vertuoso is already developing shows and branded content, which they call “VertisodesSM” for various platforms.
